How do I join Shopmobility?

To join shopmobility all you need to bring is two forms of identification and something with your photograph on it, such as your driving licence or passport. Should you require any more information on joining Shopmobility please call us free on 0800 16 91910.

What is Shopmobility?

Shopmobility is a scheme which lends manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs and powered scooters to members of the public with limited mobility to shop and to visit leisure and commercial facilities within the town, city or shopping centre.

Who can use Shopmobility?

Shopmobility is for anyone, young or old, whether their disability is temporary or permanent. It is available for those with injuries, long or short-term disabilities - anyone who needs help with mobility. Shopmobility is about the freedom to get around. You do not need to be registered disabled to use it.

Why is Shopmobility necessary?

With the introduction of shopping malls and pedestrianised areas, it has become increasingly difficult to access all areas of a town or city if you have a mobility impairment. Shopmobility schemes actively encourage inclusion and equality by providing wheelchairs, powerchairs and power scooters for people to use them. With Shopmobility you can continue to access your local centre either independently, or with family and friends.

How much does it cost?

All schemes operate slightly differently; some provide Shopmobility as a free service while others make a charge. This is indicated by the symbols in each entry. Most schemes welcome any donations you wish to make.

Shopmobility Key

	Means that manual wheelchairs are available.
	Means that powered scooters are available.
	Means that powered wheelchairs are available.
	Means that all the equipment must be booked in advance - please don't turn up without having made a booking first.
	Indicates that there is a charge made for hire of equipment. This might be an annual registration fee or a per hire fee. You should telephone the scheme in advance for details.
	Shows that escorts are normally available to assist you around town. Escorts must be booked in advance at your local scheme. Please give as much notice as possible: some schemes require a few days notice.
	Shows that the scheme has escorts who are trained to escort people with visual impairment. Again, you will need to book in advance with plenty of notice.
	Indicates where a scheme is prepared to make some equipment available for periods longer than one day. There my be a charge for this service and you should contact the scheme for details.
	Some schemes have enough parking spaces to allow parking for blue badge holders who do not use the scheme. If this symbol is not displayed, there will be no parking available unless you use the shopmobility scheme.
	Indicates that there is an accessible toilet facility available.
